Edit before converting

Trim to source frames, crop, transform, adjust color, change speed and looping, add censor regions, captions, shapes, or emoji, and inspect a short encoded preview before the full conversion.

Use compatible video files

ExactGIF currently accepts H.264/AVC video in compatible MP4, MOV, M4V, or 3GP files up to 200 MB. If a file contains another video format, it explains that clearly instead of starting a conversion that will fail.

Know what changed

The result shows its exact byte count, limit usage, frame count, color choices, frame treatment, honored locks, and how many quality combinations were checked. You can see why it fits instead of trusting a vague quality label.

How to make a GIF with an exact file-size limit

  1. Upload and edit. Choose the video, then select the exact clip and add only the edits you want.
  2. Set the ceiling. Enter a custom maximum or choose an available platform preset.
  3. Lock your priorities. Keep any dimensions, frame rate, or color count that cannot change.
  4. Create and verify. ExactGIF checks quality combinations, verifies the final bytes, and returns either a fitting GIF or a clear explanation.

GIF maker questions

Will ExactGIF ever return a file above my limit?

No. A successful download is verified at or below the byte ceiling you selected. If the active locks make that impossible, ExactGIF stops and tells you which choices are involved.

Can I choose an exact frame?

Yes. Drag or click the timeline, use Left and Right Arrow for one-frame steps, set either boundary from the preview frame, or enter a fixed minutes, seconds, and hundredths time.

Does it work on a phone?

The editor has a responsive touch layout. Actual speed and available video formats still depend on the browser, device, network path, and the computer running the converter.

What happens when my settings cannot fit?

ExactGIF does not silently break a lock or hand back an oversized file. It shows the target, the smallest tested result, and the locked settings you can review.
